Successful Dating – When a Successful Dating Relationship Goes Awry

Oftentimes, when you’re dumped, you think about the person who dumped you, at least for awhile. You fantasize about getting back together and what you would do differently in the relationship. Even successful dating relationships can go bad.

Problems in Successful Dating Relationships

Successful dating requires hard work and trust. The second you doubt your partner, you’re opening the door for a previously successful dating relationship to go awry. And if you continue to build those doubts without refuting them, eventually they will.

Anything can be grounds for a relationship to go badly. A lie. A late night out. A previous relationship. When people think the person they’re dating is being unfaithful or lying, it’s easier for them to do the same. They stop trying to make the relationship work and do what they can to build a wall, so that when the relationship inevitably ends, they don’t get hurt. With that kind of an attitude the relationship doesn’t even have a chance. Successful dating requires that you both work to make it succeed. Fortunately, you can stop a relationship from failing if you’re willing to put in the time and effort.

Stop it From Failing

Successful dating doesn’t mean that you’ll have a perfect relationship. However, when your relationship starts to go bad, you can fix it. There are 4 steps to make the relationship work again.

1- Figure Out What’s Going On: Imagine you’re talking to your best friend and she asks how the relationship is going. You can probably tell her immediately what’s going on. You don’t need to stop and think about it. What you need to do when you talk to your significant other is figure out what started it initially.

2- Avoid Playing the Blame Game: Take responsibility for what you’ve done wrong in the relationship and don’t point your finger at your significant other. That will only make him or her frustrated and make things between you worse.

3- Deal With the Problem: Face the facts and work through what happened. Come up with a solution and ways to avoid it in the future.

4- Work on your relationship. Start over. Pretend your starting from the beginning and rebuild your relationship. Don’t bring up the past again, and instead, work on successful dating for your future.

However, while you’re fixing it, be really careful not to make it worse. Don’t make promises you can’t keep. For instance, if you told him that you’ll never lie again, you won’t be able to keep that promise. Even “small lies” can cause big problems, especially over a long period of time. If you told her you’ll never look at another woman, or flirt with someone who’s not her, you’re not going to be able one do that. Women are all around you, and it’s normal that every once in awhile, one will attract your attention.

Again, don’t cast up the things that happened in the past. Successful dating requires forgiveness, and if you want it to work, you need to make things work. Likewise, don’t tell the other person things to make them stay. Don’t say “I love you” if you’re saying it to make the person feel bad or guilty.

Successful dating requires hard work. If you want to have successful dating relationships, you’re going to need to be respectful and honest with your partner and create a relationship that is built on that. But the best relationship will have problems sooner or later. The important thing is the way you deal with them. Handling problems properly can be the difference between successful dating and a series of broken, unfulfilling relationships.
